The tree is a gathering place. One that provides shaded comfort, a place to rest, and a space to collaborate. “A Place to Grow” is inspired by the age old structure of the tree, with each of its three floors representing a different part. The ground floor represents the roots, the second its trunk, and the third its canopy.
Two different grid systems are present. One comprised of central glulam trees, which hold up skylights that let light fall into lower levels, as light passes through leaves. The other a more structural tree, placed in a regular grid that communicates as trees in a forest would.
The bookshelves are intertwined with the trees, so that you must weave through them, as if you are travelling through a forest of knowledge.
