Peas in a Pod

Student Housing
Completed December 2021
1A Term

Despite welcoming an increasing number of students to its university and colleges, Cambridge, Ontario has a lack of affordable student housing. Peas in a Pod looks to provide not only a home, but a secondary workspace to two separate students.

As architecture is one of the predominant fields of study in Cambridge, the building incorporates both a workshop on its ground floor with garage access for large materials, and a makerspace loft space for less hefty work such as 3D printing.

The building's massing and typography looks to create integrated desks, seating, and even bedding to be used by it’s inhabitants as they see fit. These pods appear throughout the building, as skylights, ledges and even rooftop benches, creating a unique and striking experience.
