Wings of Hope

Mixed Use Supportive Housing
Completed December 2022
2A Term

In Cambridge, Ontario, more and more homeless encampments are starting to form as a response to the lack of supportive housing in the area. The Bridges, the current supportive homeless shelter in Galt is overfilled and is having to refuse people access.

Around the world, refugee families are fleeing dangerous situations and creating a new start in Canada.

Wings of Hope is a proposal that brings these two user groups, while wildly different, together. Where one has left their home, and is searching for a new one, and the other has no “home”, both groups have similar needs and can even form a community if in the right circumstances. The project focuses on allowing both user groups to have their own private and public spaces and services and allow for overlap and connection. The building is split into two wings, one for each user group, with the ground floor retaining support services.
